Farewell Jewelry Collection

This collection is completely sold out, but I thought I’d leave this here as

a little gallery of these “miniature confections”.

I like to believe that we all have experienced a special place, whether it is a hiking trail, a park, a home, a town, a favorite vacation spot, an entire country or simply a room that speaks to us and stays with us long after we have left it. It is those places to which we want to return, physically or in our mind’s eye, when we are searching for peace, joy or solace. These pieces were all inspired by some of the places that have made my heart sing over the years.

Each piece begins as a miniature sketch done on site…my sketchbook is pretty full! Actually…many sketchbooks are full! The image is redrawn onto a collagraph plate that is built, carved and then inked...yes, painted with lots of very tiny brushes...and really good glasses! Next, a collagraph is pulled from the plate after it passes through the etching press (see more about the process here.) It is then signed on the back, placed between two pieces of hand cut jeweler’s glass and set into my own, original hand cast silver or bronze frame (bezel).  I designed these exclusively for my art, so you can enjoy the embossment on the back of the paper as well as see my signature. Every one is an original! These bezels are hand cast right here in Philadelphia on Historic Jeweler’s Row by a family who has been metal smithing for generations. You will see imperfections in each one…because they are done by hand…not machines. It’s part of the beauty of them. The pendant is then uniquely adorned with a wide variety of semi precious gemstones, glass, horn, wood, coral, chain and/or leather cord. The art informs the embellishments.
