White Pebbles

10” x 10” I remember this walk along the banks of a local creek area. Shiny white pebbles reflecting from beneath the water.

ENCAUSTIC is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Encaustic consists of natural bees wax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap). I use R&F wax medium, as well as their pigment wax blocks and pigment sticks. Using a selection of brushes, carving tool and a heated stylus, I “paint” with the hot wax.

All my encaustics are painted onto high quality birch panels and are ready to be hung as is with natural wood sides exposed. You may also frame them. Treat an encaustic painting as you would any fine art. Use care hanging, transporting or storing a painting. Consistent Temperature – Hang and store at normal room temperatures. Avoid direct sunlight, freezing and extremely hot temperatures; wax will melt at 150°F / 65°C.
