Autumn Sedum from the “Grieving and Healing Amongst the Flowers” Collection

$160.00
sold out

6” x 6” encaustic In dedication to my beautiful Mother who passed in October 2023, and the countless times we spent together admiring flowers, my flowerbeds, botanical gardens, flower nurseries, floral prints, wallpapers, bouquets etc., this body of work helped me heal from this tremendous loss.

ENCAUSTIC is a Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Encaustic consists of natural bees wax and dammar resin (crystallized tree sap). I use R&F wax medium, as well as their pigment wax blocks and pigment sticks. Using a selection of brushes, carving tool and a heated stylus, I “paint” with the hot wax.

All my encaustics are painted onto high quality birch panels and are ready to be hung as is with natural wood sides exposed. You may also frame them. Treat an encaustic painting as you would any fine art. Use care hanging, transporting or storing a painting. Consistent Temperature – Hang and store at normal room temperatures. Avoid direct sunlight, freezing and extremely hot temperatures; wax will melt at 150°F / 65°C.
